This is my proposal for the Princess Grace Playwriting Grant. I enjoy playwriting and screenwriting and was happy to discover this grant on cos.com. So without further delay here it is:
My name is Matthew Cohen and I am currently a junior at Stony Brook University. I am presently working on a minor in media arts and I hope to occupy a job after I graduate that utilizes some of the techniques that I will be learning in my classes. In addition, I have a strong interest in playwriting as well as screenwriting which I hope to concentrate more on once I graduate next year. I have already written a full-length screenplay and would like to focus my attention on developing a play write. With the help of your organization I would be able to further improve my skill set in order to reach my full potential as a writer.
With the money that I will be receiving from this fellowship I would be able to start on my next project. I have already decided to develop a play write that will focus on four friends from different backgrounds, cultures, and religions that are brought together through school and work. As their friendship grows so does their desire to help each other break away from their overprotective parents and enjoy their lives as 20-something year olds. The money from the Princess Grace Award would go towards the professional development of my play write and the distribution process after completion.
