100!
i hit the landmark! woooooo. this spring semester is finally closing and i couldn't be any happier. thr 403 was an awesome class. probably the best one i had this semester. though i was hesitant to take it at first, since its a 400level course, i'm glad i stuck it through nonetheless. it was an awesome experience that i don't think any other class in stony brook could have ever offered. and it was well worth the work. i mean, what other class can book you a venue blocks from times square?!
horrible service
not only does stony brook limit the amount of computers they have available during finals week (seriously, whose brilliant mind came up with that?) they have these horrible computers open as an alternative. its service sucks. id say its quite comparable to dial-up. and the keyboards are sticky and get stuck quite easily. there's no point in paying a $300 "technology fee" if it involves getting this junk as a trade-off. and the screen likes to jiggle. not exactly like jell-o, but it shifts like a belly dancer.
the urge to rip it off.
completely pointless news, but i guess it can solve some things we had in mind.

My Life is Average
Today, I walked into the bathroom at McDonalds, and noticed that the "C" on the "Baby Changing Station" had been scratched off so it read, "Baby Hanging Station". Should I be concerned? MLIA
Today, I answered the phone 'Buddy the Elf, what's your favourite colour?'. The caller then responded without hesitation 'Chicken.' MLIA.
Today a girl in my gym class said "I'm so pretty i can get away with anything!" Then a basketball hits her in the head she falls over and is lying on the ground. Then my gym teacher tells her to go to the office because by lying on the floor she was disturbing his class. She tried to talk her way out of it but that didn't work. I love karma. MLIA

SO GOOD!!
finally finished with all my finals and papers. there's no words to explain how liberating it is! the second i was done with my last final for today, i tossed out the study material. there was no way i was going to hoard that around all day! now, summer has finally and legitimately started. first thing i'm going to do is catch up on the past television shows that i missed out on during finals week. i just love sitting in front of the tv like the laziest bum and watching the best tv shows i can find. it's also time to go hibernate. finals week robbed me of my precious sleep. i'd come into school with extra make-up on to dupe people into thinking i didn't have 5 hours of sleep. but now i can play catch-up with it all. yaaaaay.

Dada and surrealism
summer, man
this summer, i opted to take summer courses. but my poor piggy bank resisted. so i'm going to try to make it as productive as possible. i landed 2 jobs. both of which i'm going to try to make enough money so perhaps i can enroll in the winter session and not get left behind. because who wants to stay here longer than you should?! so this summer, it's mostly working. working. working... at the end, i'm going to mexico and disney world! yaaaay. and i get back a couple days before classes start. boooo. hopefully i'll make it even more productive by hanging out with friends and all that jazz. every year, we have an annual bonfire. s'mores comes in second place. first place, we're going to burn all our notebooks, worksheets and anything vaguely reminiscent of the spring 2010 semester. its symbolic! and great, especially for the pyros. :D
you talk to me now?!
i have one of those gigantamundo lecture classes. you know, the ones where the students outweigh the professors 900:1. ok, maybe not that much. but it surely looks that way.
during my second final today (BOOO!) we finally talked! it wasn't an intimate conversation, just some school-based small talk. it made me ponder, why is it at the very end of the semester, that's when the professor will talk to you?
even if you raise your hand throughout the semester, they'll claim "there's not enough time. i must get on with my lectures." and they shut you down. during my final, they'll double check my scantron and ID. look at my name, and repeat that common phrase. "Thank you [insert name here]. have a nice summer."

finals&finales
its that time of the year again! aside from studying for these horrid finals, there's also a bunch of season finales that i wouldn't dare to miss on tv! but these finals are being greedy and starting to outweigh the finales. thank god for OnDemand! my calendar is 50% school stuff, 50% television stuff. this is quite nerdy, but every day of every week there's always a specific television show that i try not to miss. that's how i know what day of the week it is. "what's on tv tonight? House?! Ok, it must be a monday."
Discoveries!

++Joel-Peter+Witkin.jpg)
i recently discovered a new artist that i'm quite fond of. usually, i don't spring for photographers (moreso for painters, sketchers or sculptors) but this guy turned me around! his name's Joel Peter Witkin. though his art is kinda dark and moody, i feel that it does stir some emotions. which is what art is supposed to.

Red sea
i should be studying, but i wrote this poem instead. it's my own version of a followup to that joke "what happens when you drop a blue hat in the red sea?"
The Red Sea by Elaine Vuong
Falling into the Red Sea
Fills me with dread!
I’ve no wishes for a blue hat
To purple when it blends
Nor will my yellow scarf
Stain orange, for it’s much too hard
To rhyme or complement.
Save your money
And your time
I’m not travelling the Red Sea
For I’d rather stay dry!

blog pollution.
after looking at the blog, i realize i take up most of the wall. i sincerely apologize for spamming this blog! but i'm in a bis rush to make it to 100 before thursday. aside from studying for finals and all, this is a priority too. i'm trying my best to multi-task without crashing and burning. i brought dinner to my room and i'm crouched by my laptop, trying to finish this all before it's too late. and i'm hitting a writer's block sometimes as i try to find some appealing topic to blog about. when someone asks me "hey, elaine! how was your day?" i wana reply with: "it was normal. i walked the trail of Mordor and rode a broom to school." the end.
dude, wake up!
on my way to school, traffic began to build up. no, there wasn't a gridlock or some irresponsible accident. it was all because some guy fell asleep waiting for the train to pass.
it was probably 3 minutes or so and the guy at the wheel was fast asleep. he was parked on a busy street as traffic behind him began to build up. buses and cars and people from merging streets started to form a tail behind this one guy.
a couple teenagers ran up to him and knocked on his window. i overheard one of them yelling "DID HE DIE IN THERE?!" but he woke up safe and sound. and finally drove away. laughing to himself.

Granola man, I love you!
while waiting for my professor to be done with setting up for finals, some random guy from the Kaplan company went around Javits handing out granola bars.
free anything is bound to get anyone excited. but what's even better if it's free food while you're starving/stressed/nervous/tired. that's scoring 100 points in my book. yaaaaayy. it was yummy in my tummy.
so to that Granola guy out there, THANK YOU AND I LOVE YOU!

Mr... Kiedaisch?!
i ran into my old high school calculus teacher at shoprite this past sunday. quite the awkwardest thing i've been through in a couple weeks. i ran into him also during high school, when i had him, and my mom attacked him and harassed him about my class performance. all the while, i pretended to be looking for some cereal.
this time, he was stocking up on soap. and lots of it! im conjuring up some theories as to why a single 40-50ish year old man needs that much soap. but i think i'd rather stay ignorant for a while...
since he was an old high school teacher, rumors would definitely swell! a friend told me one time someone ran into him buying KY Jelly. weird also if you live alone. but i don't wana sacrifice my innocence for now. GROSS!!!!!!
