I cannot begin to tell you how much I dislike this site. Unfortunately, most of my friends are members and use the site quite frequently; making it almost impossible for me to not join. Of course after I created my account I became obsessed with tweaking my profile and friend requesting everyone that I knew. Eventually I began to frequent Facebook at least once a day until I realized just how silly it all was. I literally went from spending everyday on Facebook to logging on once every month.
Now there were multiple reasons for my decision. For starters, I realized that if I ever wanted to accomplish anything it needed to be done away from my computer. I know people claim that social networking sites are great ways to establish new contacts and remain in touch with friends from other parts of the country; however, I feel that they are having a negative effect on younger generations. I feel that they are creating a world that is less social, diminishing face-to-face communication. I also feel that these sites create privacy issues and one has to be very careful about what they put up on these sites. I now realize just how addicting some of these sites can be and it worries me that kids continue to spend so much of their time on them when they could be doing more productive things.
